It is with great sadness that we inform you of the accidental death of one of our most hourable member, Alain Foucard.
We extend our condolences to his spouse Jeannette, his family and friends.
Alain had an incredible passion for life and sailing and never failed to pass it along to all those that he touched.
We used one of his boat, Oviri during the 1984 summer sailing season. It allowed us to sail it from Kingston to Parry sound, play with it during the summer in Georgian Bay! and sail it back at the end of the season. You can find pictures of this gorgeous junk-rigged schooner in our web site.
Alain was among one of our first GBSC skipper trainer. He raced the Mini-transat with his Alberg 22. Recently he completed sailing around the world with his spouse Jeannette, who also was actively involved with the Centre.

Time again for the GBSC annual best party of the year: our annual mechoui.
Date to highlight on your calendar for this famous event during which we get to socialize, enjoy a wonderful meal together, and have fun! Saturday, Sept. 29th 2007.
This year we have chosen to use the services of a caterer (butcher) who will prepare and serve the meat (lamb) and accompanying salads. We ask that you provide either a dessert or munchies (cheese, fruit plate, varied appetizers) and your beverages.
Theme for this year is the HAWAIAN version of the mechoui. So dust off your colourful shirts, bermudas, skirts and hats and all of the hawaian music c.d.'s, you might have and bring them along.
Thanks to the generosity of one of our members, Michel, we will be having our party at his residence which is located no further than 10 minutes west of the Aylmer marina.
We thank Michel for his generosity and will be sure to show our appreciation by SHOWING UP IN MASSIVE NUMBERS !!!
In order to properly plan this event, Michel needs the following information:
Important information:

June 12, 2007
Four of the five docks were displaced towards each other. The sailboats were scattered all over the place. The next day, Saturday, the marina was functional again in the afternoon.
The work that was accomplished by the staff and some sailboat owners, in such a short time is incredible. The GBSC thanks all that participated in making the marina accessible with such speed and sailing possible to all.
Incredibly, only minor damages were reported. The exception are the docks. They were repaired so they can be functional, but will need to be upgraded. Some people were on hand during the storm to push off boats and help minimize damages to them.
THANK YOU!
Here are some pictures taken by Nicole Leblanc, after the storm hit the marina:
